Astrophysical systems involving two or more massive bodies are capable
of producing gravitational waves. The recent LIGO detection of a
binary black hole has
demonstrated that these systems both exist and that the gravitational
waves produced by them can reveal interesting information about their
configuration. This talk will focus on using data from gravitational
wave detectors to infer the properties of compact binary systems,
which may have significant implications for the understanding of short
gamma-ray bursts if one or more components of the system is a neutron
star.
