Working with the Russian Education Support Foundation, NOOSFERA, we have developed their project 'Discovery in a Week' for use in English schools. As part of the project students learn about astronomy as part of an after school club and use data taken from robotic telescopes all over the world trying to find a previously unknown variable star or asteroid. This scheme has been run successfully for several years in Russia, but this is the first time it has been tried in the UK. In the UK the pilot for the project has run under the guidance of 4 PG students from UCL going into 2 academy schools in inner London. Here we present the results of the pilot, the discoveries made, the challenges we have overcome and what the future of this project will be.
