Although in essence a spectroscopic survey, DESI is relying on the data
from three new imaging surveys (DECaLS, MzLS, BASS) to provide target
lists. Here I review the state of these surveys and discuss the work
that has been done to ensure that the data meets the depth and other
requirements necessary for DESI.
