A year ago the Zooniverse launched its new platform which allows anyone, from large research groups to individual school pupils, to build their own citizen science project for free, leading to a significant change in the scale and variety of projects on the platform.
I will showcase some of the astrophysics projects that have been build without assistance from the Zooniverse team, describe how we have given our community of volunteers a more involved role in this process, and highlight our future plans for exploiting the educational and outreach advantages of the platform.
